J.T. Poston attended Hickory High School in Hickory, NC, where he set a NCHSAA tournament record of 63 as a senior. He won two NCHSAA 3A individual titles and one team championship.
At Western Carolina University, Poston claimed six collegiate victories, including back-to-back Southern Conference Championships and the 2013 Hummingbird Intercollegiate-now the JT Poston Invitational at the Waynesville Inn and Golf Club. He still holds multiple WCU scoring records, including the top two single-season scoring averages and the overall career scoring average record.
After turning professional, he Monday-qualified for his first Korn Ferry event in 2016 and performed well enough to secure additional starts. He finished the season inside the top 10, earning his PGA Tour Card.
To date, Poston has earned three PGA Tour victories (2019 Wyndham Championship, 2022 John Deere Classic, 2024 Shriners Children’s Open), 15 top-5 finishes-including at the 2025 PGA Championship-and 30 top-10 finishes.
He and his family split their time between St. Simons Island, GA, and Cashiers, NC.
